Warm tot he Touch is het nieuwe album van drummer / percussionist / componist Vinsent Planjer, waarop hij zijn eigen composities speelt in duo en trio bezettingen. Zijn muzikale partners in dit avontuur zijn niemand minder dan de topmusici in de Nederlandse klassieke muziek- en jazzscene . Technisch en muzikaal meesterschap is essentieel omdat de composities uitdagend zijn, zowel in technisch opzicht als door de muzikale keuzes. Er is geen gangbare traditie in de ogenschijnlijk niet voor de hand liggende combinatie van percussie en melodische instrumenten.
Daarnaast wil Planjer dat iedere muzikale partner zijn bijdrage kan leveren in de ruimte die hij geeft om te improviseren, iets wat sommigen van hen niet van nature gewend zijn. Het resultaat is een verzameling heel verschillende stukken, waarin een breed scala aan bronnen van inspiratie tot uiting komen.
Gedurende zijn hele carriere als uitvoerend musicus heeft Planjer zich gericht op het gebruiken van percussie om een veelheid van stemmingen en emoties op te roepen, van meditatief tot uitbundig, van teder tot agressief, van humoristisch tot bloedserieus . Het idee dat hieraan ten grondslag ligt is het geloof dat (niet melodische) percussie het hele spectrum van muzikale ervaringen kan uitdrukken.

Warm to the Touch is the new album by jazz drummer/percussion/composer Vinsent Planjer on which he plays his own compositions in duo and trio settings. his musical partners in this adventure are nothing short of the top players in Dutch classical music and jazz. This high level of skill is essential because the compositions are challenging, both technically and in terms of musical choices. The performance of music in the unusual combination of percussion and melodic instrument has no standard approach.
What’s more, Planjer insisted on some degree of improvisational input from each musical partner, which for some is not within their natural comfort zone. The result is a collection of eight highly diverse pieces, showcasing a broad range of interests and inspirations.
Throughout his career as a performing musician, Vinsent Planjer has focused on using percussion to evoke a multitude of moods and emotions, from meditative to exuberant, tender to aggressive, humorous to dead serious. The underlying idea is the belief that (non-melodic) percussion can communicate the entire spectrum of musical experiences.
